Different Types of Texture We Do

Clark County Drywall - Sheetrock Texture Specialists

Knock Down Texture

There are many different types of textures, standard textures as seen above are often referred to as “eggshell”, “splatter” or “orange peel”. This type of texture can be applied in different consistencies to achieve a smoother to rougher look depending on the look you are going for. This type of texture is typically thinned drywall compound that is sprayed on the walls using an industrial texture gun.

For small repairs, do-it-yourself homeowners can buy cans of spray texture at a local hardware store that can be used to texture small areas. These cans of texture often will have different settings to help you match your current walls texture to the areas being repaired.

The texture to the left is most commonly referred to as “knock down” texture, also referred to as “skip trowel”. This texture is achieved by spraying walls or ceilings with an industrial spray gun, then after the texture sets up, using a drywall knife to “knock down” the larger drywall splatters which produces the flattened texture over smaller texture splatter look.

For more extravagant or elegant looks we can use more advanced techniques such as “spanish knife”, “sand swirl”, “trowel swirl”, “mud swirl”, “slapbrush knockdown” and “stomp brush”. We also do acoustic ceilings, more commonly known as “popcorn ceilings”.
